Benefits of Studying in Regional Australia

SIRA LOGO

International students have the widest variety of choices and the most unique opportunities when choosing to study in regional Australia. In regional Australia you have the chance to study in some of highest ranked schools without the highest cost! Being away from the urban centers often means lower cost of living and competitive university tuition fees. Your quality of life will also increase as our regions are varied and you have the ability to choose the lifestyle you want. Each region has its own distinct events, hubs and offerings. However, what is common amongst studying in these areas is that international students will be eligible for an extra year of post study work under the 485 visa*. The government also encourages international students to select a regional university by funding the 'Destination Australia Scholarship' which is offered by most regional, public universities*.

*To find out more about the Destination Australia Scholarship, post study work and migration opportunities, please contact us and we will be happy to provide more details.

State Updates

NSW advice in the new financial year is to look at all other visa options before apply for state nomination. This is due to a low number of places expected to be available for state nomination and high demand, it is unlikely you will receive state nomination. NSW see the highest number of applications for state nomination. In the 2019-2020 financial year they only opened 491 visa applications for one week in June and if you weren’t already living and working in a regional area you wouldn’t be able to meet the requirements that week to be able to submit an application.
If you are interested in state nomination NSW is the hardest state to receive nomination from.
